Round Rugs — Handmade Oriental & Persian Round Area Rugs
A round rug softens a room in a way no rectangle can. It breaks up straight lines, anchors a round table, and turns a foyer or reading corner into a defined space. Our round rug collection features hand-knotted and handmade Oriental rugs in natural wool, silk, and wool-and-silk blends, in sizes from small accent pieces to 12-foot statement rounds.
Shop Round Rugs by Size
- 4 ft and 5 ft — entryways, bedsides, and small reading nooks
- 6 ft and 7 ft — under a round coffee table or in a small foyer
- 8 ft and 9 ft — the classic sizes for round dining tables
- 10 ft and 12 ft & larger — large dining tables, grand foyers, and open living areas
Choosing the Right Size
Under a dining table, the rug should extend at least 24 inches beyond the table edge on every side so chairs stay on the rug when pulled out — a 48-inch round table typically pairs with an 8-foot round rug. In a foyer, leave a border of floor visible all the way around. In a seating area, a round rug works best centered under a round or square coffee table with the front legs of the surrounding chairs resting on it.
Why Handmade?
- Hand-knotted construction — durable enough for dining rooms where chairs move daily
- Natural fibers — wool and silk that age gracefully instead of wearing out
- One-of-a-kind designs — medallions, florals, and geometrics composed for the round format
Care
Round rugs often take uneven traffic, so rotate them a quarter turn every few months. Vacuum with suction only, use a rug pad, and schedule professional cleaning every few years.
