A 12x15 rug covers roughly 180 square feet — enough to hold an entire living room furniture grouping, ground a large dining table with room for every chair, or bring warmth to a great room with high ceilings. Is 12x15 the Right Size?

• Living rooms and great rooms — best in rooms around 14x17 to 16x19 feet, leaving 12 to 18 inches of floor on each side
• Large dining rooms — fits tables for ten to twelve with at least 24 inches of rug beyond the chairs
• Primary bedrooms — a king bed and both nightstands sit fully on the rug
• Open-plan spaces — defines a full living zone within a larger room
